Soon after she started her long journey as a “mother”,
she met a woman on a bus, who was crying. The woman told
her that a neighbour had left a child with her, because
she lived in a difficult situation, which made it impossible
for her to take care of the baby. The woman said that
she would return soon, but she didn’t. Celida decided
to take care of the child. She relates, “I went to the
Children’s Judiciary and soon I had the child put into
my care”. The experience changed her life and a few months
later, she received 3 more children into her home and
then 3 more, until finally, she completed a family of
53 children. The majority of them were victims of violence,
abandonment and misery.
