| The Stéfani History |
We have seen great progress in the life of Stefani
the Lord has richly blessed this precious life.
|
 |
Stefani's and Tiago's adoption process
took two years to be completed.
It was |
| concluded this week. (05/2002).
We give glory to God that they can now be called |
| Stefani Pires Berto Braga
and Tiago Pires Berto Braga, which means that they are |
| now
OUR children by Law.
These two cases of adoption, of Stefani and her blood |
| brother James (Tiago) were the last two for which we were awaiting the final judicial |
| decision. |

These two children have been with us for more than 3 ye- |
 |
| ars
and are the last ones we receieved with the idea of a- |
| dopting.james, the younger of the two, came to us anemic |
| and under-nourished. Stefani, also anemic and
under-fed, |
| suffered more because her gestation period and the first |
| few
months of her life were much more difficult and as a |
| consequence,
she suffered serious brain damage,
thus |
| losing a great part of her movement (motor control). Her |
| speach was also seriously affected. |

Today (03/2002) Stefani who is 5 years old, walks
|
 |
with much difficulty, always needing assistance.
|
| Because that her brain lesion is irreversable, we are see- |
| king
new alternatives for Stefani, trying to adjust her to |
| the realities of her life and principally, her
limitations, for |
| we recognise
that Stefani will always
need to be with us in |
|
| her life's journey. Today, she is assisted by a phonologist
and a physiotherapist. We are believing for a miracle |
| in her life.
We were with an orthopaedic surgeon from the
Santa Casa hospital
who showed much interest in |
| her case.
He is to study ways of carrying out
corrective surgery on Stefani that will help improve
her mobility. |

| But everything works together for good for those who |
| love God. Stéfani is having swimming lessons and is recupe- |
| rating more and more each day. It is a great joy to see her |
| swimming and trying to make up for lost time.. |
