The shelter-home project
(Happy people's Hiding Place) |
| |
| The object of this project is to function as a help-line for children who have been
abandoned, who are victims |
| of
aggression or who's lives are at risk, started functioning on the 1997. |
| We create in this Shelter-Home (Recanto Gente Feliz)
a continuous help structure for these poor
Abandoned |
| Children,
garanteeing them medical, psychological, social and educative help; to make this a
place where the |
| children
will be educated and prepared socially.
Because of a lack of understanding/interest,
the children's pro- |
| blem
gets worse in our city as a whole and because of this, the number of children who are at risk is
increasing, |
| even
hough official statistics state otherwise.
We hope in the Lord for us to be able to make
a difference in the |
| life of many childrens. |

Brazilian law states |
(Article 5. Book 1. Statute of Child and Adolescent Law 8.069 – 13th July 1990) |
| "It is the duty of the family, the community, society in general and the Public
Authorities to ensure with abso- |
| lute
priority and efficacy the rights to life, health, food, education, sport,
leisure, professional training, culture, |
| dignity, respect, liberty, and participation in family and community life". |
| Of this total, some returned to their original family, others went to a new family in
another country and many |
| went
to a new family situation here in Brazil.
This is the case with us and our 53 children. |
| |
| This ministry has existed for 15 years (2003) and has already helped 186 children. |
| The SHELTER or House of Passage is an institution to provide a short-term
home for these children
or long stay |
| provision where that may prove necessary. |
| |
| Our desire is to continue helping children. |
